Summer!

It’s July! JULY! You know, that month that brings America independence, fireworks, BBQ, and afternoon and evening thunderstorms. It also means we’re about 6 weeks away from BP possibly finally maybe probably not cutting off their massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Hurrah! Wait, whut?

The summertime song is allegedly destined to be “California Gurls” by Katy Perry featuring Ludacris. But you know, I’m more particular to Kat DeLuna’s “Push, Push” (featuring Akon, cause you know everything features someone.) And then there is that patently silly “Pretty Boy Swag” by Soulja Boy. Wait, he’s a pretty boy? Oh… wait.. no… he says “no homo” in the song. Psha! Like us respectful fags would accept you, assclown.

On to more important news: The economy seems to still blow for most, but thankfully my local economy is really picking up some steam. I’m trying very hard to adjust and make sure I’m putting some away now that I’m not spending so much on things like car payments and full coverage insurance. I could use some health care, god knows. And I don’t mean the kind that comes in a cocktail glass.

Pride Weekend is once again moving in Atlanta. We didn’t have it in June -again- which blows donkey balls. Last year, it was on Halloween which apparently worked out really well. I just went to the parade which was cold but nice as always. The Latinos looked like they were celebrating the hardest. The rest of us should look to that and be reminded what it’s like to have some real fire in our pride. This year Atlanta Gay Pride is on my birthday weekend, October 9th.

But before that happens, I gotta do the Alchemy thing with Kaze up in the North Georgia Mountain. It’s kind of like Burning Man, but on a smaller scale.

Also coming up is another fine edition of DragonCon. It’s Labor Day Weeekend, always, always, always. Maybe you should come and join me. It’s a lot of fun, the most accessible geek celebrities, and will make you rethink that whole “nerds don’t get laid” stuff.

Finally, I’ve been thinking a lot about Magic: The Gathering again suddenly. I bought a terrible terrible version of it on Steam the other day called Duels of the Planeswalkers. It’s also on XBOX. It’s horrid. Don’t buy it. It was a waste of money to be sure. You can’t even build your own deck? WHAT? Magic: Online is cheaper and certainly is making me think about it a bit. There’s also a new Core set coming out in two weeks. Is this something I could get into again? If it’s still played, maybe I could even make some new friends. I’d chalk this nostalgia up to the fact that I’m 31 (almost 32), but that would imply that I’ve grown up in the meantime, which we all fucking know is not true.

Anyway, that’s the update for now. Don’t forget to buy some books.

Yanno now is not a bad time at all for me to remind you find folks that “Later, Skater: On Tour” is available for download for a mere 5 dollars and the original “Later, Skater” is at the perma-lower price of 3 dollars.

But check this, if you want physical copies to show all your friends just how cool you are, Lulu is offering free shipping in the US for orders over 20 bucks. Soooo, if you grab both of the “Later, Skater” books, that’ll get you in AND you’ll have two great things to read AND you’ll be supporting my independent voice!

Thanks for the fish.

I got my most recent royalty check for all my book sales over the last month. This included the release of “Later, Skater: On Tour,” so I was especially anxious to see how much I’d be rewarded financially. No, of course, I’m not really doing it for the money. I mean, they don’t call it ‘starving artist’ for nothing right? Actually the fan letters I’ve been getting recently have really made me feel richer than Warren Buffet and Bill Gates combined. (But not that Steve Jobs guy. What an asshole.)

Thanks to everyone who bought my books in the past month. And to you who have still been holding off, “Later, Skater” the original is at a perma-low price of 3 dollars. The recently released sequel is 5. That means you could download them together for 8 and have way more fun than going to see some lame summer blockbuster flick. Besides, I assure you my stuff has more boy x boy action.

Get your summer reading here, and don’t worry, I won’t make you write a book report in the fall.

I didn’t hit on this story right away because I really didn’t give a flying fuck that another douche bag who hates us was caught with his pants down and a rentboy. This particular douche bag is special I suppose since he’s the co-founder of the insipid Family Research Council and one of the leading advocates for the same kinds of ex-gay camps that is the subject matter of my novel “Later, Skater.”

But I got a few links here in case you are interested.

Now you can just bathe in the sea of something that’s far beyond hypocrisy.

Fans of my novel Later, Skater who aren’t necessarily fans of the television show House should catch the May 3rd episode. (Season 6, Episode 19) The patient he treats makes mention of an ex-gay camp perhaps similar to New Horizons for Daily Living. The subject continues to run through the course of the problem solving medical comedy-drama, and touches on the concepts of sexuality and choice. When I did my research, I didn’t find any places doing anything medically to any of the people admitted to one of those type camps, but it’s additionally terrifying to think that some do things like experiment with hormone or other chemical compound therapy.

Whether under the guise of Freedom of Religion or not, such facilities really ought to be looked into. And in the case of those being placed there under the age of where they can legally consent themselves, it shouldn’t be seen as anything other than abuse.

Later, Skater and it’s sequel Later, Skater: On tour are both available at lulu.com.
House airs on FOX on Monday nights and is available at hulu.com.
To learn about all things ballet, that is available at tutu.com.

First off, there is one more week left in the free giveaway for the downloads of “Later, Skater.”
So far, 400 people have downloaded it. I couldn’t be happier sharing my work with you.

However, since I’m also wanting to make some financial returns on the whole process, I’m glad to say that sales have been great!

Since April 20th:

Later, Skater physical prints sold: 1
Freakshow physical prints sold: 2
Later, Skater: On Tour physical prints sold: 4
Later, Skater: On Tour downloads: 5

Now, you may not think 12 is a lot. And if I was some big-name author it wouldn’t be. But I’m not. I’m an independent author selling my wares via the internets. 12 sales in 4 days is huge with that kind of perspective.

If you haven’t yet got your copy, be it physical or download, do it before May 1st so you can take advantage of that free shipping coupon (3.99 off order) FREEMAIL305. And if you can’t buy anything right now because you don’t have money or because you’re too young to have access to a digital means for paying things (Lulu does take Paypal btw) that’s okay. It’s been my pleasure to give you “Later, Skater” this month for free.

Kalki and Skittles are back with a brand new adventure in my sequel to the well received independently published novel “Later, Skater.” You can still download that one for free until the end of the month.

And now I’ve let loose with another flurry of hot skaterboy action. Join Kalki as he gets a coveted spot on The Pump Tour and travels from location to location. Will he pick up tricks, or just lay them down on the half-pipe? And what will happen to his now long-distant relationship with Skittles?

This novel is NOT about coming out of the closet. We’re already secure in our sexuality. No, this novel is about coming to terms with your own expectations and discovering if you have what it takes to succeed.

Buy a physical copy of “Later, Skater: On Tour” for 13 dollars plus shipping. OR get some instant gratification right this second by purchasing a download of it for only 5 dollars. Either way, you’ll be getting, what I think is hopefully another great read, and you’ll be supporting your favorite webmaster/novelist.

In preparation for the release of “Later, Skater: On Tour” later this month, I thought why not just GIVE away the first one? Now, while I can’t give away actual physical copies of the novel due to the high costs of cum-resistant paper, I sure as hell can give away digital copies. So… for this month only you can download “Later Skater” for the low low price of FREE.

(There are discounts on Freakshow as well.)

I got a surprise in the mail today: Another royalty check for my first novel Pixiesticks. Yeah, I know! Now, I believe the last time I got a check was about two years ago from iUniverse. It wasn’t for much, about 25 bucks or so, but it is really nice to know that there are still copies being sold (and hopefully read) out there.

Hopefully those same people will google Jonathan Sexton and figure out that I’ve written two more: Later, Skater and Freakshow.

Oh? Did I say two more? I meant three more! Later, Skater: On Tour is still being edited, but the pieces are starting to really fall into place. I think there is no good reason why it can’t come out mid-April just like the ones before. I’m getting really psyched about it and I hope you are too! More royalty checks from Lulu would be nice. I get those one a month still, so copies are still either being sold or downloaded.

Did you know you can download copies of the books?

Not only is it cheaper,
Not only is it instant gratification,
but you’re actually supporting me more!

So check out the novels page and get ready for another healthy dose of hot boy x boy goodness with Later, Skater: On Tour next month.

This President’s Day weekend you can take 15% off any order on Lulu.com by using the code: “WASHINGTON” on check out. So head on over to my storefront over there and grab you a copy of “Later, Skater.” You will want to read that before its sequel comes out in the spring. AND you’ll be supporting your favorite webmaster.

Waiting…

In a recent email I wrote to a long lost friend. Actually, he’s not long nor lost. Well, he may be long — I never got to check and ew — but he’s certainly not lost. He moved to Maine, you see. Anyway, where was I? Oh shit, still the beginning? Well then, lemme start over.

I wonder if I’m like a circling airliner, just waiting for my runway. Ugh, metaphors? Come on, Jonathan, you’re a talented writer but that talent comes from NOT doing stupid shit like using terrible metaphors. Start over again!

Fine, fine!

I am thirty-one years old. I live south of Atlanta, GA with my mother, my sister, and her boyfriend whom I dubbed Kid Rock Boyfriend. I don’t know what the deal is, but I think I’m waiting for something.

I have a job that I like most days that I go. I think to myself, honestly, isn’t that more than I can say for many people out there? Often, I’ll make more than 15 dollars an hour, and yet just as often, I will mishandle the money so poorly, I’ll barely make it from month-to-month with my simple but very real bills.

There are a few people I have keyed into my phone that I consider my friends. Sometimes I can’t get a hold of them, and I don’t ever see them as often as I want to. Some because they don’t live here and exist only on the internets, some because they have busy lives and I don’t think they’re waiting for anything like I am.

I don’t have a boyfriend. I don’t even have prospects for boyfriends, though you may find me occasionally making out with someone when I got to the bar or nightclub. I’m not exactly sure why that is, but then again, I do live with my mom, my sister, and her Kid Rock Boyfriend. I think more importantly though, I have an aura about me that is warding people away most of the time.

I used to run a website for one of my interests. I closed it when I felt like it was taking up too much of my time without really being all that rewarding. The anime characters used to turn me on, but I stopped really seeing them in that way after a while. Unfortunately, because I closed the site down, I lost pretty much all of my online popularity.

It will absolutely make sales of my upcoming fourth novel decline. I kind of took that into consideration when I pulled the plug, but also kind of ignored it to my own chagrin. Part of me thought that it didn’t really matter. I always said, if I sold one copy that’s all that matters. I’ve also said that if only one person came to pixiesticks.org, it’d be worth it.

I lie to myself, but never to others.

I think I’m waiting on something, but I don’t know what it could be. It’s not like I don’t try and alter the above to make for a more rewarding experience on the planet. I’m about to start editing that upcoming novel. I have new hobbies I find a lot of interest in. I try to approach people and try to make their lives more interesting either as a friend or French Kissing partner. I want my home life situation to be as painless as possible since I still have to stay here, and the same goes for my work.

So… really… what is it?
I don’t know.
Maybe part of it is just this. Putting down what is going on in my life into words and posting them onto pixiesticks. I only post personal posts when something I consider interesting is happening in my life.

But that wasn’t always the case. I was younger… I wrote more about feelings, dreams, desires. Older now, I still have feelings, dreams, desires, but I have to say, it seems they are dull and not colored so brilliantly with idealism. I seem to save that for my novels, as someone critically said about “Freakshow” once.

I am waiting for something. But it’s not a passive form of waiting. It’s not like I am sitting here, watching the calender change. It’s an active form of waiting, if there is such a thing. It’s like I’m trying to hold my ground and maybe even occasionally darting a hand out to claw forward, all while waiting and trying and hoping that things will get better for me.

So you remember that whole NaNoWriMo thing. You know, where you write a novel that’s 50,000 words in 30 days during the month of November? I’m talking about the event that for me gave birth to “Later Skater” back in 2007 and “Freakshow” in 2008 where I later cleaned them up and published?

Well, I’m finally done with 2009′s event.

Yeah, um, it took a bit longer than 30 days and it’s a bit longer than 50,000 words.

I did complete 50,000 of them during the 30 days, so I am a legit winner, of course. But, well, “Later Skater: On Tour” is (before the first bit of editing is done) 255 pages, 69,266 words long.

Now, I let it sit and fester for a little while before I attack it again with a pointy stick. Well, actually doing that is kind of old fashioned. We use computers now so it’s more like a pointy mouse arrow.

I’m so relieved. This was an undertaking to be sure. And while there is a lot of work left to be done before you can all order it and enjoy it, I’m really glad to be able to take a break from the hardcore writing schedule.

Still NaNoing

This weekend was filled with more NaNoWriMo which is funny because I thought the event was supposed to end December 1st? Ha! Ha! As Kalki likes to write. See, turns out apparently I’m so pro now at writing 50,000 words in one month that this year the story demanded to be bigger, longer, and uncut.

This may be a good thing. I got a few reviews of my writing from some people who bought previous works and they weren’t very good.

“You are naive about being gay,” said one person who read “Freakshow”. I tried to correct them, but it didn’t do any good. I said that I may be “idealistic” about being gay but hardly “naive.” I mean, how can I be naive when I am gay? I write about what I wished were true, not what is actually true. That’s idealistic. Ah well.

“I didn’t like it, but couldn’t stop reading it,” said another. This is kind of a back-handed compliment I guess. I really think it’s an interesting thing to say. Sadly, they really didn’t expand on why they didn’t like it. Maybe it was the storyline of “Later, Skater” what with it’s kind of sad ex-gay religious stuff.

He also said that he didn’t buy that Skittles is two years younger than Kalki. I tried to explain that Skittles has had to grow up faster due to the harsh reality of his upbringing in Russia, but he didn’t seem to think that was good enough. He also said that Kalki being an albino didn’t really factor in much. I tended to agree with this, but that was partly by design.

See, Kalki has to deal with being all of these things… only child, strict parents, albino, oh yeah, and he’s gay too, see, the idea is that it’s just one more layer that’s frustrating for him to overcome. I will say that in the sequel it comes up a bit more since the gay part has been kind of dealt with for him.

So, those were some comments I got this weekend about my work.

I’m still writing though. Still moving forward with the next novel called “Later, Skater: On Tour.” I’m writing the end of it now, actually. Then we’ll let it stew and fester before taking it apart for rewrites and editing. I think people will really like it.

Just, maybe, not those two people.

Download THIS!

Feeling a little lonesome now that we’re in the holiday spirit? Cozy up to a good book…er, download. There are only a few more days left in my NaNoWriMo Month special where I’m offering downloads of either “Later, Skater” or “Freakshow” for 3 dollars.

Three dollars! Can you believe how cheap that is? And the bestest part is I am still getting my royalties, so you are still helping out a starving artist. Well, I’m not actually starving. I’m eating turkey leftovers right now actually. It’s just an expression you see.

OH! Maybe the best part can be that you don’t have to wait for shipping. I mean, it’s a download. You get it right away. You could be reading in no time!

Love love love Windows 7 over all. Yeah, it’s taking some getting used to. I mean you have to change some of your habits and make new ones using the features now at your fingertips. (For instance, that “show desktop” square sure is a long ways away on this big long new flat screen.)

There are more than a few of my, let’s call them Legacy Programs, that are unable to even install on this machine. I don’t know if there is some sort of trick to get them to work or not.

This means I’m losing some of the most basic, yet very functional programs I like to use. AOL Press and Paint Shop Pro 3 to name a couple.

I think instead of ditching my old machine, I should keep it and use it for some little work I need to go back and do from time to time. I mean, just look at that gawd awful banner I made for the NaNoWriMo book sale? Yeah, I don’t know how many 3 dollar downloads something that ugly will inspire.

Maybe out of sheer pity of it’s hideousness, perhaps.

Otherwise, it’s been a mighty good 24 hours or so with the new machine. Got MANY day to day things that I love my computer for up and running in no time flat. It’s good to see a blazing speed again. It really is. And there’s nothing wrong with a flashy new operating system either. Hell, I even made some spreadsheets to help work on those finances I’ve kind of side stepped in order to get this machine.

Of course, NaNoWriMo is just mere days away and you better believe I have THAT file created and ready to go.

Same boys, New Tricks.

KALKI AND SKITTLES WILL SKATE BACK INTO YOUR HEART IN 2010
Planned sequel to fan favorite novel Later, Skater in the works

Next month, Jonathan Sexton says he’ll be nailing down a whirlwind of ideas when he composes a sequel to his second novel, Later, Skater. “Much of the plot was already well crafted since the 2008 release of that novel,” Sexton notes, adding, “There were many directions Kalki and Skittles could have gone, but only one makes me the happiest to tell.”

Kalki Helaku was introduced to readers as a sixteen-year-old albino skater who had trouble with his family leading to a life-altering stay at a religious institution designed to change his sexual orientation. His life becomes intertwined with that of Mishka who is Russian, two years younger, and highly rebellious.

“People really identified with these characters,” Sexton explains. “It was a coming of age and gay versus organized religion all rolled up into one. And it was sexy too, which I insist is very importing in making an impact.”

An impact is exactly what Jonathan Sexton hopes to make when he writes, edits, and publishes the sequel over the next six months. Using the National Novel Writing Month campaign (NaNoWriMo) once again as a jumping off point, he hopes this will be his third success in as many years.

Details of the plot for the new book will be slowly revealed on his website pixiesticks.org, but the tentative title Later, Skater: On Tour was already secretly revealed on the authors NaNoWriMo profile page. The writing event begins November 1st.

The novel will likely again be printed by Lulu.com a Print On Demand resource that is giving a voice to thousands of independent minded artists. Later, Skater and 2009′s Freakshow are available both as a physical or digital copy via Lulu.com.

Relatively soon from now, there are going to be some changes made to pixiesticks.org. Don’t freak out though! The website isn’t going anywhere and the blog is going to be here and shotalicious.org is still going to be there too.

What I’m going to do is rotate the focus of the site more towards the novels so that I can use pixiesticks more as a website to direct people curious about my writing.

Currently with the splash page, everyone gets pretty much dumped here on the blog. That was all fine and good when I didn’t give a crap about who was ever reading my website. But then the yaoi and later shota started making me a bit internet famous. So much so that I had to create a separate site for that stuff.

Now, I think with three novels done, two in the last two years, and a fourth to be written in November, I really need to either a) create a new website for that material which I really can’t afford to do or b) re-appropriate this website for that purpose.

I appreciate your patience when the changes do occur, but I assure you, nothing essentially will change.

1. William Shatner isn’t always an ass. He actually can be brilliantly entertaining even if he mostly appeared like he was talking with co-panelist Lenard Nimoy. Reoccuring themes included why he wasn’t in the movie, picking on Georgia natives (Nimoy has a lot of history in this city actually), the ongoing feud with George Takaei, and getting the lowest fare on priceline.com. Nimoy wins the battle however since he hates Glenn Beck as much as I do.

2. Movie trailers are always a big draw. People like watching them in the theatre, people like watching them at a convention. Even an hours worth of them can really be entertaining filler during a day’s worth of activities. The screen is big and you may get to see some you (or perhaps even the general public) has never seen. Avatar looks downright stellar if Second Life-like.

3. The name of your panel is very important. If you’re going to talk about the books rather than the television show, don’t call your panel True Blood. Call your panel The Sookie Stackhouse Novels. Because otherwise, it just looks obnoxious to bitch and whine and complain about the HBO series. This goes for any fandom really. You all need to get over the fact that books and television or movies are DIFFERENT. That’s why they’re called ADAPTATIONS.

4. The Con Suite really stepped it up this year. Either that or I got really lucky with what times I decided to drop in. For the uninitiated, this is a room set up by the staff, run 24 hours (except for a moments here and there for cleaning) that features food and drink. Sometimes you get something like Chex Mix, sometimes you get bacon and eggs like I did one morning. Other awesome dishes were red beans and rice, and Pocky. One of the misses was a huge ass pickle at 3am. Thanks but um, well I kind of wanted a real penis at that hour, I mean srsly.

5. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) has indeed become the hot delicious young adult I knew he’d be. Another member of the “delicious accent club,” he also has the benefit of playing a bad guy who finally found himself in The Half-Blood Prince. He couldn’t help but constantly flood the panel with fan service stating his favorite scene was with Harry in the toilets, that he actually prefers a Draco x Ron pairing, and that he’s a bit unsure about the photo-real slash out there.

6. I’m still unsure why the whole MST3K gang can’t seem to get back together all together even now. They all seem to talk about how they can’t get work in Hollywood and they really like doing their projects Cinematic Titanic and RiffTrax respectively. They all share a deep seeded hatred for Jim Mallon. Why not put your peanut butter in their chocolate already?

7. Malcolm McDowell was one of those celebrities that did indeed charge a premium for pix and autographs… HOWEVER!!! Unlike many of those other crappy actors that aren’t really worth the oxygen they’re sucking up at their empty Walk of Fame table, this guy is a real nice man who if you don’t have the money will still chat for a moment. I told him that I really like his work, which is technically true since I HAVE INDEED seen so many of his films that even he probably doesn’t remember doing. You know, because they’re bad.

8. I missed out on seeing Adam Savage because I got my hotels mixed up. It was in the Sheraton not the Marriott. The 4th hotel was added I believe last year and it’s kind of a haul as it sits away from the main three (which are lined up in a row across the three blocks). It was also ice cold for other panels like Crow vs Crow — No matter who loses, Tom Servo wins — and so maybe it’s not so bad I missed out seeing another Mythbuster this year. Besides, would it be right to see Adam without Jamie?

9. 3 Years ago in the Self Publishing panel it was filled with so-called experts who said it wasn’t a good idea. You should polish your letters and send them out to all the publishers and get yourself a good stack of rejections. This year they say that this is the way of the future and that while there still will be the big names, this is the best way to go forward. Durr. I told you so. That’s why I self-published “Later, Skater” and “Freakshow” and ignored your so-called advice. Bitches.

10. Steam Punk has taken over. An instant fandom (just add water) this re-envisioning of the way the world works if only we powered things by steam. While this isn’t exactly a new concept, per say, this is the first year it got its own track of programming at DragonCon. Yes, they did underestimate the appeal and gave it too small of a room. But considering how obviously overwhelmingly popular it was, I think that’ll be remedied quite quickly. The fact that Best in Show at the Masquerade went to a steam punk group will not be lost on those in charge, I’m sure. I’m quite pleased to be honest. It’s a far more interesting concept than Twilight or Browncoats or sucking the teat of Joss Whedon that’s for goddamn sure.

Dishonorable Mention: Furries still suck. Not content to stink up the internet, they continue to troll our conventions this time wearing shirts with the acronym FAP (Furry and Proud.) Die in a fucking fire.

CINCINNATI — Police say the owner of an Ohio sports bar took an 11-year-old girl’s skateboard at gunpoint and has been charged with armed robbery.

Police say 50-year-old Jack Connerton was angry over children cutting through his parking lot on skateboards. He was arrested on the felony count Saturday after police say he pointed a gun, took the girl’s skateboard, and snapped photosof four children.

The girl’s mother, Misty Bragg, says neighborhood children have to pass Connerton’s Towerview Sports Pub in Cincinnati to get to a recreation center and park. She says they stay on the sidewalk and are respectful.

Bragg says police seized Connerton’s camera and got her daughter’s skateboard back.

(Ed note: Obviously I think it’s terrible some grumpy old bastard thinks it’s okay to rob a loli of her skateboard at gunpoint or otherwise. But I cannot let the second point go in that the police seized the camera. If the children were in a public place, or even more importantly, on his property, wouldn’t taking the photographs be legal? Is it now illegal to take photographs of children period now?)

‘Gay exorcism’

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The video shows the 16-year-old boy lying on the floor, his body convulsing, as elders of a small Connecticut church cast a “homosexual demon” from his body.

“Rip it from his throat!” a woman yells. “Come on, you homosexual demon! You homosexual spirit, we call you out right now! Loose your grip, Lucifer!”

The 20-minute video posted on YouTube by Manifested Glory Ministries is being called abuse by gay and youth advocates, who are demanding an investigation. But a church official this week denied that the teenager was injured or that the church is prejudiced.

“We believe a man should be with a woman and a woman should be with a man,” the Rev. Patricia McKinney told The Associated Press. “We have nothing against homosexuals. I just don’t agree with their lifestyle.”

The church posted the video on YouTube but has since removed it; it is still available on some Web sites that copied it. The church declined to make the video available for distribution by The Associated Press.

It shows church members standing the youth on his feet by holding him under his arms, and people shouting as organ music plays.

“Come out of his belly,” someone commands. “It’s in the belly — push.”

Later, the teenager is back on the floor, breathing heavily. Then he’s coughing and apparently vomiting into a bag.

“Get another bag,” a participant says. “Make sure you have your gloves.”

As the youth lay back on the ground, limp, church members put a white sheet over him.

It’s nearly impossible to say how often similar exercises occur in churches nationwide. But Kamora Herrington, who runs a mentoring program at True Colors and has worked with the youth, said she believes it’s fairly common.

“This happens all the time,” she said. “This is not isolated.”

Robin McHaelin, executive director of True Colors, an advocacy group for gay youths, said her organization is aware of five cases in recent years in which youths in her program were threatened with exorcism.

In one case, she said, a child called to report that his caregiver had called a priest who was throwing holy water on his bedroom door.

“I think it’s horrifying,” McHaelin said of the video by Manifested Glory. “What saddens me is the people that are doing this think they are doing something in the kid’s best interests, when in fact they’re murdering his spirit.”

McHaelin said she planned to report the situation to the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. An agency spokesman said the agency does not comment on complaints or investigations.

“They have this kid in a full nelson,” she said. “That just seems abusive to me.”

McKinney said the youth was 18. The boy confirmed he is 16 but otherwise declined to comment, citing the advice of his pastor.

McHaelin said the boy told her staff that the church performed the ritual three times at his request. She said the boy has been engaging in risky behavior that she blames on the church’s treatment.

McKinney said the youth went to the church last year and collapsed on the floor during a service.

“He was out of control in the church,” she said. “This young man came to us. We didn’t go to him.”

McKinney denied the ritual was an exorcism, describing it instead as a casting out of spirits. She said the church took care of the youth, providing him clothes.

“He was dressing like a woman and everything. And he didn’t want to be like that,” McKinney said.

The teen had been in reform school for stealing but was eager to get out and go to the church to have what he thought were his demons driven out, Herrington said.

Exodus International, a Christian group that believes gays can become straight through prayer and counseling, does not advocate the church’s approach, said Jeff Buchanan, director of church equipping.

The Rev. Roland Stringfellow, a minister in Oakland, Calif., said he was subject to demon casting in the 1990s when he was at a Baptist church and was struggling with his sexuality. He said he was put in front of the church as members shouted “demon of homosexuality come out of him.”

“It caused nothing but shame and embarrassment,” Stringfellow said.

McKinney also has a weekly radio program. She talked on Wednesday’s program about being “persecuted” in recent days but did not mention the video specifically.

“It’s been a hard time for me, but I’m looking good and I’m standing strong because when you have a mandate like mine you’re not going to say what you want without the adversary coming after you,” she said. “If you are a true prophet you’re not going to be popular with the people.”

Link to a news story that features some of the video. Obviously, I don’t want to promote the video in any way whatsoever.

(Ed note: Disturbing… Totally fucking disturbing. But then again, doesn’t this just make you realize how realistic “Later, Skater” really is?)

If you order my book via Lulu by clicking the banner ad above this month, I’m giving discounts. What better way to celebrate Gay Pride Month (Obama even signed a declaration of such!!) or to get started on your Summer Reading than to order books written by your favorite perverted webmaster?

Print copies of “Later, Skater” and “Freakshow” are 11 dollars each. That’s a savings of 2 dollars this month.

But the real deals come with the downloads!

You can get a digital copy of this year’s release, “Freakshow” for only 5 dollars.
Best yet, you can get a digital copy of “Later, Skater” for only 3 dollars.

THREE DOLLARS! Hell, you can’t even get a Baconator for that price. So check out the link, the previews, and do some reading (and fapping) this June and thanks!

Now you can get my two big hits (okay, more like relatively minor, yet completely satisfying successes) on Amazon.com. Now, I know we had a little scuffle just last month with that whole delisting of all the gay and lesbian authors and them fucking around with the excuses. Well, they fixed all that now and I consider this a huge apology gift. (It isn’t really, but I can pretend.)

So if you’ve been waiting for me to hit the big time, this is now your chance.

Freakshow on Amazon.com
and
Later, Skater on Amazon.com

(Of course, if you’re more in the downloading mood and want to save some dough. I’d still go that route.)

It’s… personal.

It’s been a while since I posted a personal post here so here’s a rundown of what’s been going down lately.

1. Colin and Allie are moving to Maine. They had a going away party last night that was very well attended and lots of fun. Sure, it grew bittersweet towards the end, but I am very glad for them and this new stage of their life. HINT HINT.

2. Courtney aka Elf is very well, other than screwing up her classes and not having a job. On the bright side, the current stage of a transformation is going really well I think. After all, with no current hormone treatment or voice coaching, everyone seems to be taking to Courtney extremely extremely well.

3. Met a guy last night at Heretic while hanging out with Kaze and Tatsuo. He’s Malaysian… very lovely. We had a rather enchanting evening that didn’t involve dancing to Lady Gaga unfortunately, but did lead to playful and satisfying kisses. Considering we did seem to take to one another quite nicely, I have optimistic hopes for this. I’ll try not to be disappointed if nothing comes of it, but I think it could be really quite good.

UPDATE: I talked to him on Memorial Day for about a half hour. We have tentative plans to go see the Pixar film “Up” next weekend.

4. Sales of Freakshow and Later, Skater:

32 print copies of “Later, Skater”
16 print copies of “Freakshow”
7 download copies of “Later, Skater”
8 download copies of “Freakshow”

You can get them here.

5. Money seems to be doing mostly pretty decently. I think a huge difference maker has been that I quit smoking completely. In fact, I have this little script running on my computer that reminds me how well I’m doing:

“PIXIE – Free and Healing for Two Months, Two Days, 19 Hours and 29 Minutes, while extending my life expectancy 4 Days and 10 Hours, by avoiding the use of 1276 nicotine delivery devices that would have cost me $303.90.”

Wow… 150ish dollars a month extra in my wallet goes a long way.

FINDLAY, Ohio — A student at a fundamentalist Baptist school that forbids dancing, rock music, hand-holding and kissing will be suspended if he takes his girlfriend to her public high school prom, his principal said.

Despite the warning, 17-year-old Tyler Frost, who has never been to a dance before, said he plans to attend Findlay High School’s prom Saturday.

Frost, a senior at Heritage Christian School in northwest Ohio, agreed to the school’s rules when he signed a statement of cooperation at the beginning of the year, principal Tim England said.

The teen, who is scheduled to receive his diploma May 24, would be suspended from classes and receive an “incomplete” on remaining assignments, England said. Frost also would not be permitted to attend graduation but would get a diploma once he completes final exams. If Frost is involved with alcohol or sex at the prom, he will be expelled, England said.

Frost’s stepfather Stephan Johnson said the school’s rules should not apply outside the classroom.

“He deserves to wear that cap and gown,” Johnson said.

Frost said he thought he had handled the situation properly. Findlay requires students from other schools attending the prom to get a signature from their principal, which Frost did.

“I expected a short lecture about making the right decisions and not doing something stupid,” Frost said. “I thought I would get his signature and that would be the end.”

England acknowledged signing the form but warned Frost there would be consequences if he attended the dance. England then took the issue to a school committee made up of church members, who decided to threaten Frost with suspension.

“In life, we constantly make decisions whether we are going to please self or please God. (Frost) chose one path, and the school committee chose the other,” England said.

The handbook for the 84-student Christian school says rock music “is part of the counterculture which seeks to implant seeds of rebellion in young people’s hearts and minds.”

England said Frost’s family should not be surprised by the school’s position.

“For the parents to claim any injustice regarding this issue is at best forgetful and at worst disingenuous,” he said. “It is our hope that the student and his parents will abide by the policies they have already agreed to.”

The principal at Findlay High School, whose graduates include Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, said he respects, but does not agree with, Heritage Christian School’s view of prom.

“I don’t see (dancing and rock music) as immoral acts,” Craig Kupferberg said.

(Ed note: “Freakshow” may be a little more far fetched, but “Later, Skater” is probably dead on truth.)

THIRD TIME CHARMING, SEXTON BRINGS “FREAKSHOW” TO THE MASSES
New novel brings colorful story of twin acrobat teen boys in traveling circus

A duo of slender and extremely agile youths face questions about their interests in bedding local boys, carnival staff, and one another in Jonathan Sexton’s third novel. This release marks his second release in as many years!

Hadyn and Devyn Robertson find themselves at a crossroads as the circus pulls into town at a stop in Macon, Georgia. While one of the twin acrobats seem to be in love with their world of high flying action and steamy weekend long romances, the other appears to be at war with it.

When Hadyn starts to reveal his feelings may be stronger for his twin than perhaps natural, things start to unravel. The natural ebb and flow between brothers seems off and when a local boy gets tossed into the mix, things get downright ugly.

“‘Freakshow’ initially was intended to be very free spirited,” Jonathan Sexton goes on to explain, “but as the story was crafted and worked over, a real raw heart appeared at its core that I’m quite proud of.”

The novel is printed by Lulu.com a Print On Demand resource that is giving a voice to thousands of independent minded artists.

In addition to a physical release, ‘Freakshow’ is also being offered as a digital download, a first for Sexton.

“I was leery at first, but then I realized I really only want to get this in as many hands as possible.” Sexton adds, “Not being in a physical book store brings you certain limitations you want to try and help overcome for the fans.”

His previous work, ‘Later, Skater’ is also being released as a digital download simultaneously.

Tears for Queers

When I talked to Allen last night at Heretic, he told me that my books weren’t going to be allowed to be back at the Heretic Leather shop this time around. I spontaneously burst into tears like an uke being told they weren’t ever loved in spite of deep dicking every night of the week.

He told me to calm down, but I really couldn’t until I went outside and was consoled by two unlikely people: Mysterious Asian Dancer and his boyfriend back from a trip to Vietnam.

See, I wasn’t really crying because of the books or because I felt like I was being dissed by a company and by people that I thought were my friends now. Allen said that -none- of the consignment items were allowed now back in the shop after Danny passed away.

That’s the reason for the tears.

Danny.

He was the manager of Heretic Leathers (and I’ve since learned, co-founder of the Panthers, a leather and Levi fund raising fraternity.) He’d also become a friend of mine, especially in the year and a half since writing “Later, Skater.” He allowed me to put it back in the shop on consignment and part of the proceeds would go to help the Rainbow House, a favorite charity of Danny’s.

But Danny passed away on March 13th. And while I felt very terrible the Friday I learned, I knew he’d want us to keep on dancing. Besides, I knew that I’d have a new book soon in his shop and that’d be an even cooler way to keep his memory going.

Except last night I learned I won’t. Cue the waterworks.

Afterwards, I found Allen and told him that he didn’t have to try and plead my case to the owners of Heretic, even though he said earlier that he would. For one, I didn’t think it would do any good. You can’t really make an exception for just one person. But because I thought I’d done my mourning now, and Danny would deal with this kind of roadblock I’m sure just like I can.

I knew I’d miss Danny. I didn’t really think about it right away. And I was so fascinated to learn so much more about his life during the memorial last Saturday to feel that sad about it. But it certainly hit last night in the most terrible way.

“Freakshow” goes on sale Friday, April 17th online and in person, but it won’t be at any store this time around. Not even Heretic Leathers.

Goodbye Danny and thanks.

New Novels Page

I’ve redone the old works page in an attempt to really jazz it up and make it look all pretty. You can find the link where you used to, over on the left hand side. It’s called “Novels” now instead of “Works” though you can still find the poetry and short stories there too.

Later, Skater as a PDF?

Tell me, faithful readers, it’s nearly been a year now for my last novel, “Later, Skater” and I’ve sold around 35 copies. Is that a success? Is it a failure? These aren’t really questions I concern myself with.

What I want to know today is if “Later, Skater” was made available as an e-book (essentially a PDF file) on Lulu that you could download and read and enjoy and fap to, for $5 dollars, would there be many takers?

Many authors have gone down this route while many others do not approve of it. I’m the Pixie of the People so I want to ask you, my fans, what you think.

5 dollars via credit card or paypal to Lulu.
You get to download “Later, Skater” as a PDF file.
No shipping. No handling. No physical book to be toting around.
And best yet this would work internationally.

What say you? Leave comments on this post, via the tag-board, or email.

PS: If you think this is a great idea, do you think I should release “Freakshow” the same way immediately or wait for a while?

New buttons. New banner.

Moving in the short short month of February, most folks start melting at least their hearts from winter’s harshness. Here at pixiesticks, I’ll be trying harder to get on editing “Freak Show” so I can make my publishing deadline.

Remember, that special loved one in your life by giving them a copy of “Later, Skater” available exclusively at lulu.com.

I’m also going to try and insert more of myself in the news blog postings as well. Hope you have a great Valentine’s Day and rest of February.

Editing has now begun on “Freakshow” my new upcoming novel about twin teenage acrobats in a traveling carnival.

Don’t forget you can still order a copy of “Later, Skater” for 13 dollars plus shipping by clicking on the banner above. 30 copies of the independent work I published last May have been sold to date. If reading more books was one of your New Years’ Resolutions or just want a great sexy story to enjoy, please pick a copy up!

Nearing NaNo

Last November I embarked on what seemed at the time an impossible mission. I was going to write a 50,000 word novel. Oh, and I was going to do it in one month. That’s 1666 words a day, everyday, for the entire month. I honestly didn’t think it was possible despite, and maybe even in spite of, having written “Pixiesticks” back in 2002. That project took me a year, how the hell was I going to write something that wasn’t terrible in a month?

Well I did it. I wrote “Later, Skater.” It was an engrossing and important story about a teenage boy with albinism who when deciding his sexuality for himself is sent to an ex-gay religious camp by his father. It was filled with high drama and explicit sex. And I think by far it is the best thing I’ve ever done.

Now, it’s nearing November. It’s getting to be time to once again look the calender in the face and decide to write 1666 words a day, everyday, for another entire month. The pressure is even higher now that I know I can accomplish such a feat.

But unlike “Later, Skater” this new project will be completely new. There won’t be much based on previously inspired characters or story ideas I’ve had and shared with my collaborative storytelling partner. And writing this 50,000 word novel is going to be even more challenging.

I’ll be writing about twin acrobat boys that live, play, and work in a traveling carnival. With adopted families and ever-changing surroundings, the pair will find themselves drifting apart as adolescence takes hold. One will find love. The other will find themselves. It will be filled with high drama and explicit sex. And I hope it’ll be the next best thing I’ve ever done.

You’re soon going to be hearing the names Taavi and Juhani quite a lot here on pixiesticks.org. And while the fast paced schedule of writing every day will make both sites updated less frequently, I really hope that the excerpts of their journey I bring you will entertain and fascinate you.

NaNoWriMo starts November 1st and that’s when I’ll be penning my next novel, tentatively titled “Freak Show.” Welcome to the show.

Get the buck off.

A reminder that this month (until Oct 28th) my novel “Later, Skater” is available for only TWELVE dollars rather than the normal thirteen. That’s a savings of one dollar! One dollar can get you 1/3 a gallon of gasoline. One dollar can get you an extra large sized condom at the local truck stop. One dollar can get you a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger where they actually only put like two shriveled up pieces of bacon if that.

As it gets nearer towards November and my 2nd attempt at NaNoWriMo where I’ll be writing what I hope will be my third novel, I’d be even more encouraged if sales on “Later, Skater” were increasing.

Sure, it’s only a dollah. But hey, from now until October 28th, you can get my latest novel, “Later, Skater” for 12 dollars instead of 13. Wow, that’s a savings of 1 whole dollar! Just think of what you could buy with that dollar!

* Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger at Wendys
* Two gumballs from a machine
* A game of Dance Dance Revolution
* A quick eyeful of a go-go dancer at Swinging Richards.

So order your copy of “Later, Skater” today!

NaNoWriMo starts on November 1st. Get a jump start by signing up, or cleaning up your old profile. Remember, this is how I got “Later, Skater” written and eventually edited for publishing. Join me this November in writing your very own 50,000 word novel IN ONE MONTH. Oh it’s fucking crazy alright.

Quick news and notes.

* Today is the last day you can vote in the current Pretty Boy Poll

* Related perhaps, please keep the *chan conversations off the tagboard. I don’t want to gain notoriety with those folks. It would only end poorly for my sites, I’m sure.

* Boku No Sexual Harassment OAV 3 is now available over on shotalicious.org

* Any donations you’d like to make to help me get to DragonCon and/or Anime Weekend Atlanta this year would be much appreciated. Buying a book gets you a book and me 4 bucks so maybe it’s time to finally get your copy?

* Stupid sexy Randy Orton got into a motorcycle accident just after he was cleared medically to return to the WWE and now is out -another- 3-6 months. Damn you Orton!

* I really thought the Opening Ceremony for Beijing’s Olympics were the most beautiful thing ever televised.

* In Soviet Russia, Georgia will become part of you. (By force if necessary, apparently.)

* Happy (belated) Birthday Elf.

* Over on the secret Pico x Chico x Coco Hype site, the AMV for Boku No Pico has been fixed to where it now includes sound. Yeah, it kinda helps to have sound in an anime MUSIC video.

Money!

I got my first royalty check for copies of “Later, Skater” purchased via lulu.com. $26.74 cha-ching! Have you got your copy yet? Likely not considering I haven’t sold that many yet. What are you waiting for? Put that stimulus check to work! Declare your independence from crappy gay novels.

Click on the banner above to check out, “Later,Skater.” Grab your copy of my second and much more delicious novel. It’s not in any bookstores (except for Heretic Leathers inside Heretic Nightclub here in Atlanta), so you got to get yours today through lulu.com!

I laid my deck on the ground and hopped on. Carving back and forth down the hill, I looked back and waved a few times. I don’t have to tell you Ollie how good I felt, which is why I got so angry with what happened with Dad. I probably should say I’m sorry to Mom. But I hate that she bailed on me like that. She knew I’d get into more trouble for saying that she said it was okay. Saying bull crap probably didn’t help either though.

The fact that she doesn’t even seem shocked that now I have a damn black eye because of him, well, it doesn’t make me want to say I’m sorry.

I know I’m definitely not sorry for going out. I had one of the best nights of my life so far. I mean, it wasn’t quite the same as the first time I felt the board underfoot when I stepped off the roof of my first parked car and nailed the trick I’d been trying for months. But if this keeps up, maybe something will happen with Synth. Then, I can say that nailing my Free Parking trick is the second best thing ever.

Do you like that name for it, Ollie? Free Parking? Meh. I should ask the other boys at the park what they think later today when I go to Eddie’s.

Later, skater!
–Kalki

A long weekend underway.

Last night was the beginning of a long weekend for your faithful webmaster.

Friday night I spent at Heretic as per usual. The beats were okay, but I wasn’t so much in the mood for dancing. I’ve been in the mood for sex. But I didn’t quite manage that either. I did sell the remaining 2 copies of “Later, Skater” bringing my total sold to 16 in person and 7 online: 23 copies so far in all. That’s a great start but I want more! Go check it out and see if a copy wouldn’t fit nicely on your bookshelf.

Shinji was also there. We seem to have a odd connection now where I don’t like him and hate how he’s mean to me and yet I still make out with him. Very strange. I wished we’d fuck. It’d probably be way hot.

Started Saturday off with a terrible hangover, but ironically it didn’t last long. That’s very good since this afternoon I have the Asian Express Pool Party with DJ Kaze. Following that is DJ Eddie Baez at Heretic. Last time he was there 900 people packed the house.

Not to be outdone with fun and sexiness, Sunday I’m going to visit Fang and Pirrip. They are the delicious artists you can see linked on the left hand side. Long time friends they are some of the most delicious boys I know. I’m looking forward to getting a closer look at some of their work, Korean BBQ, and breaking all of Fang’s rules of his new decked out room. (I’m kidding, dude. I’ll make sure to only use the bed for sleeping and sex.)

Thankfully I requested Monday off so I can recover what I hope to be a real memorable weekend. It’ll be made even more so if I can manage to get a little boyxboy goin’ on. I swear.
